I wanted to give me Shih-tzu away today
I have been a dog owner almost my whole life. We've had dogs forever and as I became a mom, I brought that love into my own family.
Dogs teach us a lot. It's a kind of love that is hard to describe really. And sometimes, it's the opposite lol.
Today, I wanted to give my shih-tzu away, like for real away.
His name is Scott Bernard McCarron and he is 5.

Since our move, the dogs, we have 2, haven't really done as well as I hoped.
Especially Scott, he's just kind of anxious, more than he was before.
He gets antsy and then does a lot of whining. I hate it. Like a lot!
It got me thinking though.
What does his whining mean?
Sometimes, it means he's hungry, or thirsty, or just bored.
If I don't figure out what he needs or wants, the whining continues. The point?
It's not for 'no reason', that he's doing it. There is always something, something I can do to help ease whatever is going on.
I started thinking about a feeling I get. Not anxiety per se, but a nagging feeling sometimes.
A feeling that I can't shake. I ignore it, it gets louder and louder, until eventually it's screaming at me to figure it out. Like Scott.
So when it happens, I have begun to listen to it again without judgement. I ask myself, "what am I missing right now, what could I be doing that I am not?".
Sometimes I pray to God and just cry.
Sometimes I scream in my car, whatever the method, I don't just sit there expecting to figure it out sitting in my house taking no action.
Action is required. It's as simple as that.
After my divorce, I made a choice that things in my life would be different, and they are, but only slightly. Action was needed to really shake my life up. And my business.
So that is what I did. I took action and pretty quickly, things started to change.
The biggest shift was my energy.
Energy around my business.
Energy around my home.
Energy in general.
So what does this have to do with you? Your business?
A lot actually.
There is no shortage of people starting and stopping businesses.
Every day one opens and a bunch close. This is nothing extraordinary.
How many though, just sit there idle because they take no actual action?
How many have an incredible business model, or product, but do nothing with it because they aren't taking action?
If I let Scott sit there, he might quiet down a bit, but trust me when I tell you this dog will bug me until I do what he needs me to do. Just like my soul.
Our businesses are the same, because here is the reality. You and I both know we have started our companies because we want to have impact and help peoples lives be better, in any way possible. That whining is your soul telling you to piss or get off the pot.
It's telling you to take some kind of action because no one else on Earth can do it for you.
It's saying now or never.
I have been an entrepreneur for over 2 decades and nothing has ever happened without some kind of action first. Yes, energy makes all the difference (I will get into this on another post), but action is still required.
For me, the action I took was writing out what I wanted for this next chapter.
It was writing out all the ways I was lying to myself about what I wanted and then about what I deserved. It was opening up to the possibility of my life now. And finally, it was investing in my next steps. For me personally, it's always been the best thing I do for myself. When I invest in me, it always pays off. Always, without fail.
So, what is whining at you right now?
What is your "Scott" in your business?
Is it your marketing?
Sales?
Processes?
What is it that won't leave you alone that you know you need to take care of?
You know there is something, I want to hear it:).
Until next time...
Big love,
Cara
